Diamond Drilling has extended its rental of an eight-man sleeper cabin on the Ocean Rover rig in the Kikeh development field offshore Malaysia for a further year, following an initial deal.
The 33ft x 13ft unit, which fully complies with the latest SOLAS and IMO regulations, is A60 fire rated and an example of the high-standard living accommodation introduced to the region by HB Rentals. The additional beds have been added to the rig to supplement its existing living quarters during drilling operations for Murphy Oil offshore Malaysia.
Meanwhile, BJ Process and Pipeline Services in Perth has taken one of HB Rentals’ unique fleet of customisable 20ft x 8ft engineering cabins, also fully A60 fire rated and DNV approved for use in zone 1 hazardous areas offshore.
The unit, to be used as a technicians’ cabin on a number of projects offshore Australia, is on a rolling contract with BJ, supplementing its own permanent fleet of cabins in Western Australia. The cabin was delivered to the firm on the day of order due to the availability of units in stock.
Maurice Bledsoe, president of HB Rentals worldwide, said: “Our business throughout the Asia Pacific region has been growing at an incredible rate and these contracts are a perfect example of the range of modules needed by the industry there.
“Operators and contractors in the Asia-Pacific region and Australasia are responding to the increasing high standards of safety and comfort their staff have grown to expect in coming to us – standards which have followed the example set in the North Sea and more recently in the Gulf of Mexico.
“Our move to new offices in Singapore, where the majority of our fleet for the region is based, in addition to our operations at Perth in Australia, has ensured we can continue to respond quickly to clients’ needs.”
HB Rentals, a Superior Energy Services Company, is the world’s largest unique supplier of temporary on and offshore accommodation modules, operating from three major global hubs in Broussard, Louisiana, US; Aberdeen, Scotland and Singapore.
