OFFSHORE specialist HB Rentals, a Superior Energy Services Company, is to supply drilling and engineering specialist KCA Deutag with a new High specification module which brings the high standards safety developed in the North Sea to Azerbaijan.
A customisable 20ft x 8ft engineering cabin is being custom-built for KCA and will undertake a four-week journey from HB Rentals’ Aberdeen base to Baku, before being installed on the Shah Deniz platform in the ACG region.
The Zone 1, DNV 2-7.1 cabin is being outfitted with specialist equipment to streamline the manufacturing of hydraulic hose assemblies. The cabin is also A60 fire rated in accordance with the SOLAS/IMO classification and is pressurised in order to create a safe environment for the technicians to work inside. Due to the environmental conditions in the region the cabin is fitted with heating and cooling systems and has an integral fire and gas monitoring control and shutdown system which will be linked to the central control room on the platform.
The high spec unit will be supplied to the BP is implementing North Sea standards to its operations in the Caspian region, and has a long-standing relationship in the UKCS with HB Rentals, whose high specification modules meet its exacting criteria.
HB Rentals’ production manager, Reinhardt Schoeman, said: “Due to the flexible design of our engineering cabins, carrying out custom installation work to accommodate the equipment being used on the Shah Deniz was quick and simple while meeting the standards required by KCA Deutag.
“Our experienced workforce’s ability to make these modifications at short notice significantly reduces the timeframe needed to prepare the accommodation and put it into the transit process between Aberdeen to Baku.
“The global oil and gas exploration and production workforce is demanding higher standards in all regions – standards which we have helped to set through the introduction on a rental basis of our high specification modules in every major oil and gas region.”
HB Rentals is the world’s largest unique supplier of temporary on and offshore accommodation modules, operating from three major global hubs in Broussard, Louisiana, US; Aberdeen, Scotland and Singapore.
The global specialist includes the European, American, South East Asian and Australasian operations of the former Duffy and McGovern Accommodation Services, which it acquired in January 2007.
